Renée Kathleen Zellweger, born on April 25, 1969, in Katy, Texas, USA, is an actress who became one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood in the late 1990s and early 2000s. She first gained worldwide recognition in 1996 with her role in the film "Jerry Maguire." Despite tough competition from more established actresses at the time, such as Winona Ryder, Marisa Tomei, and Cameron Diaz, Zellweger was chosen by director Cameron Crowe for one of the key roles. Crowe's decision paid off as Renée brilliantly fulfilled her role and became one of the most sought-after Hollywood actresses.

Renée's parents are Emile Erich Zellweger, a Swiss immigrant who worked as a mechanical engineer and electrician in the oil refining business, and Kjellfrid Irene Zellweger (née Andreassen), a nurse from Norway with Sami roots. Her older brother, Drew, works in marketing. Both Renée and Drew use an anglicized pronunciation of their father's German surname, "Zellweger," as they were born and raised in the United States.

Zellweger attended Katy High School, where she developed a serious interest in acting. She participated in gymnastics, joined the debate club, and was a member of the school drama club. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English in 1991.

During her time at university, Renée was determined to pursue an acting career. However, she had to find work as her father lost his job and could not afford to pay for her education.
