Biography of Ernesto Sabato
Ernesto Sabato was an Argentine novelist, essayist, and artist, renowned as one of the few talented Argentine prose writers. He was born on June 24, 1911, in the town of Rojas, Argentina. Coming from a large family with 11 children, Sabato was the tenth child. From an early age, the writer had a passion for various activities, particularly in the field of science. He even graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics at the university. In addition, as a young and energetic individual, Sabato actively participated in the country's political life, passionately advocating for the interests of the people. He was a staunch supporter of the communist party and had been a member of several responsible delegations, including his mission to the Brussels Antifascist Congress in 1934. During these years, Sabato began exploring his own literary skills by writing short stories and articles. While in Paris, Ernesto created several novels, although they were only partially published. Later, he returned to his homeland, where he had the opportunity to fully immerse himself in his own works and writing. In 1939, Sabato traveled to the United States, but eventually returned to Argentina for a longer period. In Buenos Aires, the writer pursued a teaching career, which he found extremely fulfilling. However, in 1945, he was forced to give up his teaching profession and resumed writing. From 1948 onwards, new works by the Argentine novelist were published, marking a period of creative flourishing for Ernesto. His philosophical reflections and stories gained widespread recognition abroad. In his later years, Sabato was prohibited from writing and reading, leading him to focus solely on painting. Numerous exhibitions of Sabato's artworks were organized worldwide, allowing visitors to appreciate the creations of this great artist.
